The Cost of the SIA Door Supervisor licence typically depends on 3 factors the first is the Emergency First aid at work (EFAW) this one day course is a requirement for anyone looking to get there SIA Security License this courses covers basic skills to help someone who is injured or suddenly becomes ill at work and typical ranges from from £50 to £150

The SIA Door Supervisor Course varies by training centre, typically ranging from £270 to £450. This price however doesn't include the mandatory Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course. Some centres offer a combined package of both the SIA Door Supervisor courses and EFAW courses, costing between £350 to £500.

It is important to note that after completing the course, there is an additional fee of £184 for the SIA Licence application. This is a fixed fee that is set by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and is not determined by the training centre. If you hold multiple SIA licences you may be eligible for a 50% discount. This fee is used by the SIA to conduct vital background checks and regulatory activities needed to maintain standards in the security industry.

SIA Badge Requirements

There are 4 main requirements you should be aware of before enrolling in the SIA Door Supervisor course, alongside being able to pass the written and practical assessments in your course.

1. OVER THE AGE OF 18

All applicants are required to be at least 18 years old. Age verification will take place on the first day of the course.

2. RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK

To enrol in the course, applicants must successfully pass an identity check. This process involves providing valid, official identification documents to confirm your identity.

3. EFAW QUALIFICATION

The Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Qualification (or equivalent) with at least 12 months validity remaining is a mandatory requirement for anyone looking to obtain a SIA Door Supervisor Licence.

4. CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK

Applicants for an SIA licence must pass a criminal record check. This process assessing any past convictions to determine suitability for a role in the security industry.

FIRST AID & E-LEARNING

Before your course begins, you must have a valid certificate in both ACT Awareness and ACT Security. ACT (Action Counters Terrorism) is a free online training course from UK counter-terrorism experts that teaches you how to recognise and respond safely to potential terror threats.

The ACT e-learning test is taken online. It consists of multiple-choice questions, and you can retake it as many times as you need until you pass.

The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course is required for anyone seeking an SIA Door Supervisor licence. If you don’t already have a valid EFAW (or equivalent) with at least 12 months left, and you booked our combined SIA Door Supervisor + EFAW package, you’ll complete EFAW on your first day. The course covers basic workplace first aid—such as dealing with unconscious persons, choking, bleeding, and using a defibrillator. Assessment includes a short practical test and a simple written or multiple-choice quiz.

SIA Door Supervisor Post Course

After completing your SIA Door Supervisor Course and receiving your qualification, you must apply for your physical badge by creating an SIA online account, completing the license application form, and paying the current £184 fee for a three-year license. The SIA will run background checks, and your license is usually issued within three to four weeks. Once you have your SIA Door Supervisor badge, you can begin working.

If you do not pass your exam on your first attempt, don’t worry—you won’t need to retake the entire course. You only have to resit the exams you failed, allowing you to focus on specific areas that need improvement before trying again.
