The new SIA Door Supervisor Top-Up Refresher, differs from the previous top-up training course by requiring mandatory first aid training, enhanced Terror Threat and Vulnerability Awareness, and updated Advanced Physical Intervention Skills. While the course content has been updated to meet the latest SIA standards and today's security needs, the duration and cost remain the same as the previous Top-Up training.

The Cost of the SIA Door Supervisor Top-Up Refresher licence typically depends on 3 factors the first is the mandatory Emergency First aid at work (EFAW) this one-day course is a requirement for anyone looking to renew there SIA Security License this courses covers basic skills to help someone who is injured or suddenly becomes ill at work and typical ranges from from £50 to £150

The SIA Door Supervisor Top-Up Refresher Course varies by training centre, typically ranging from £215 to £270. This price however doesn't include the mandatory Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course. Some centres offer a combined package of both the SIA Door Supervisor courses and EFAW courses, costing between £250 to £300.

It is important to note that after completing the course, there is an additional fee of £184 for the SIA Licence application. This is a fixed fee that is set by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and is not determined by the training centre. In order to take the training, you may be required to complete approximately 10 hours of self-study e-learning, covering the Principles of Working as a Door Supervisor and Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry. This pre-course learning serves as a valuable refresher, reinforcing key concepts and essential knowledge from your original training.

The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course training required for anyone looking to enrol in the SIA Door Supervisor Top-Up Refresher Training. If you don’t already have a valid EFAW (or equivalent) with at least 12 months left, and you booked our combined SIA Door Supervisor Top-Up Refresher + EFAW package, you’ll complete EFAW on your first day. The course covers basic workplace first aid—such as dealing with unconscious persons, choking, bleeding, and using a defibrillator. Assessment includes a short practical test and a simple written or multiple-choice quiz.

SIA Security Licence Renewal Post Course

After completing your top-up refresher course for door supervisors and receiving your qualification, you must apply for your physical badge by logging into your SIA online account, completing the renewal application form, and paying the current £184 fee for a three-year license. The SIA will run background checks, and your license is usually issued within 25 working days Once approved, your new SIA badge will be sent to you by post, and you’ll also receive confirmation by email.

If you do not pass your exam on your first attempt, don’t worry—you won’t need to retake the entire refresher course for door supervisors. You only have to resit the exams you failed, allowing you to focus on specific areas that need improvement before trying again.
